Author Guidelines

Manuscript preparation

General guidelines

  • Format: the manuscript should be submitted in .doc or .docx format. 
  • Language: the manuscripts are accepted only in English.
  • Format: the manuscript should be prepared using a Windows-available serif font (such as Times New Roman), size 12, and double-spaced.
  • Length: a full manuscript (excluding tables, references and appendices) should not exceed 5000 wordsunless exceptional circumstances warrant a longer page count, for which authors should contact the Managing Editor prior to submission.
  • Manuscripts elements and order:
  1. Title page
  2. Abstract and keywords
  3. Main text including tables and figures
  4. Acknowledgements (should be added, if applicable, only after acceptance)
  5. Appendices
  6. References

Manuscript style

  • Title page: the title page should include a concise and informative title, the authors full names, affiliations, address (postal and email). For the corresponding author, ensure that the e-mail address is given and that contact details are kept up to date by the corresponding author.
  • Abstract and keywords: all manuscripts should have an abstract of about 100-200 words, and a maximum of 6 keywords.
  • Main text: Divide the manuscript into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ...), 1.2, etc. (the abstract is not included in section numbering). Any subsection may be given a brief heading. Each heading should appear on its own separate line. The tables and figures should appear at their right place, and not be placed at the end of the manuscript. MathType should be used for typing the mathematical equation. All the tables and equations should be editable. The figures should have high quality. All the tables and figure should be sequentially numbered (e.g. Table 1, Table 2, Figure 1, Figure 2).
  • Acknowledgements: authors should acknowledge the financial support or any other help they have received in conducting their research and preparing their manuscript. The acknowledgement can only appear at the last stage of publication.
  • References 
  1. Text: Indicate references by number(s) in square brackets in line with the text.
  2. List: Number the references (numbers in square brackets) in the list in the order in which they appear in the text.

Publishing fees

There is no publishing fees for the Journal of Integrated Security Science (jiss) for neither the authors nor the readers.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is being considered by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
  3. The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Number the pages and the lines.
  4. The format of the text and the references must comply with the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
